Helicopters (NZ) Ltd was founded at Timaru, New Zealand in 1955 and has been operating continuously since that year.

Principal work in the tourist industry is for sight-seeing, heli-skiing, rafting and snow landings in three locations - the West Coast (Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers), Queenstown and Twizel. The Company is also involved in general charter work, including commercial filming and aerial survey.

Several subsidiary companies are now incorporated, providing a fleet of some 37 helicopters.
